Shreds of land stand by, waiting, along the edge of the railway that separates the neighbourhood from the industrial area. A raised footbridge must connect the two sectors of Terlizzi city, at present divided by the infrastructure. The competition proposal hybridises the bridge typology with sport and leisure equipment. The planning gap thus becomes the playground of architecture. The concept takes the shape of a linear element diagonally oriented in order to ehance the neighbourhood. The device contrasts the typical layout of railway footbridges – U shaped and orthogonal to the tracks – to create a specific architecture for crossing and for resting. Three yellow towers signal the arrival, the departure and the transit of passengers, marking a segment of railway and urban landscape. The vocabulary of the site generates the nature of the project and its materials.
A pedestrian and cycle overpass becomes the occasion for declaring an attitude: every space is a place, exery context is interesting.
