The company DUEMS s.r.l. requests and promotes the restoration of an ancient stone house, which is a landmark for who enters the village of Coi. Beside the building, a tool shed can be demolished, so its volume can be added to the house. The project interprets the ideas of conservation and continuity in a personal way. A double of the original house is designed beside it, sharing the same circulation spaces; a new architecture that evokes the vernacular principles of the mountain farm house (tabià) and updates them. The project was shortlisted for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2017.
